Bananas (1971) is a political satire that follows a hapless New Yorker who travels to a fictional Latin American country and, through a series of mishaps, ends up becoming its revolutionary leader. As he tries to impress a political activist back home, he finds himself caught in a web of absurd politics and chaotic power struggles. The film blends slapstick comedy, social commentary, and rapid-fire gags in classic early Woody Allen style.
