 *Empire of the Ants* (1977) is a creature-feature sci-fi horror film in which a shady real estate agent leads prospective buyers to a remote island—only to discover it's overrun by giant, mutated ants created by toxic waste. As the group fights to survive, they uncover that the ants have developed a hive-mind and are using pheromones to control humans. Based loosely on an H.G. Wells story, the film stars Joan Collins and Robert Lansing and delivers campy thrills with 1970s eco-horror flair and low-budget special effects.
