Love Gun is the sixth studio album by the American rock band Kiss, released in 1977. The album features a mix of hard rock and glam elements, showcasing the band's trademark high-energy performances and larger-than-life persona. Love Gun includes some of Kiss’s most enduring songs, such as the title track "Love Gun," "Christine Sixteen," and "Shock Me," the latter being the first song on which guitarist Ace Frehley took on lead vocals.
Produced by the band and Eddie Kramer, Love Gun features the signature Kiss sound—catchy, riff-driven rock songs with catchy hooks and bold lyrics. The album's themes of love, lust, and rebellion are present throughout, reflecting the band's often provocative image. The album was a commercial success, reaching the top 10 on the charts and helping to solidify Kiss's status as one of the biggest rock bands of the 1970s. Love Gun also marked the last album to feature the classic lineup of the band, as it was the last album to feature Peter Criss on drums before he left the band.
