Moonlight and Valentino (1995) is a drama that centers on Rebecca Lott, a young widow coping with the sudden loss of her husband. As she navigates her grief, she is surrounded by three women—her protective best friend, her free-spirited sister, and her outspoken former stepmother—who each bring their own perspectives and emotional baggage. When a charming house painter enters Rebecca’s life, he helps her begin to open up again. Directed by David Anspaugh and written by Ellen Simon (based on her own stage play), the film stars Elizabeth Perkins as Rebecca, Whoopi Goldberg, Kathleen Turner, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jon Bon Jovi. The film explores themes of love, loss, and the power of female friendship.
