The Firm (1993) is a legal thriller based on John Grisham's novel, following a young and ambitious Harvard law graduate, Mitch McDeere, who joins a prestigious Memphis law firm only to discover it's a front for organized crime. As he uncovers the firm's dark secrets, Mitch must find a way to outsmart both the mob and the FBI to save himself and his wife. The film stars Tom Cruise as Mitch McDeere, with Gene Hackman as his mentor Avery Tolar, Jeanne Tripplehorn as his wife Abby, and Ed Harris as a determined FBI agent. Sydney Pollack directed the film.
