Three Cases of Murder (1954) is a British anthology film composed of three eerie and suspenseful short stories, each exploring themes of crime, mystery, and the supernatural. In the first segment, “In the Picture,” a museum worker finds himself pulled into a mysterious painting. The second, “You Killed Elizabeth,” follows a deadly love triangle between two friends and the woman they both desire. The third and most memorable, “Lord Mountdrago,” features a politician haunted by nightmares that begin affecting his waking life. Directed by Wendy Toye, David Eady, and George More O’Ferrall, the film stars Orson Welles, John Gregson, Emrys Jones, and Elizabeth Sellars. Welles gives a particularly striking performance in “Lord Mountdrago,” adding a dramatic flair to this atmospheric and unsettling trio of tales.
